Clae makes and curates beautiful supplies for your creative journey!

We have a busy studio in Ōtautahi, Christchurch.

Where we paint, make, stitch, craft, mix, glue, drink tea, and assemble all our goodies.

Some of the things that we love doing is making water colour paints, binding journals and creating art making tools.

We like to call ourselves Craftigineers...we are a bit like creative elves behind the scenes, making so that you can too.

We chose the name Clae because we started out with a passion for pottery, which soon developed into an intensive research of materials. This led us to want to know the origin of all the materials that we use in our studio and we now try to only use foraged, recycled, reclaimed and local. We also try to make products that you can be mindful with while you enjoy using them.

Part of our process is being out and about exploring the landscape, walking on beaches, scrambling around in rivers and even doing a bit of urban foraging.

This means comfortable footwear, large pockets, arguing about how to read a map and plenty of hot tea!

We love to feature a pinch of local natural materials in all our products so that you can too.

Other parts of our studio life focus on making lots of different ceramic goodies from home grown resources and teaching pottery....and of course drinking more tea! ;-)
