Service Description

This course is a one-day workshop at 1-4pm, Sunday 30 October, 2022 Make your own beautiful botanical soap and a ceramic soap dish to keep or give as a Christmas gift to friends or family. JungHwa Kim ( will show you how to make soap from scratch using the cold process technique and create moisturising and cleansing soap that contains olive oil, coconut oil, essential oils, and herbs. You will get to take home around 600g of non-drying soap which you can cut into 6-7 soaps later. Emma Turner will show you how to hand-build a ceramic soap dish. Emma will glaze and fire the dishes after the workshop, and you will be able to pick up your finished work from General Pottery approximately two weeks after the session. No experience in soap making or pottery is needed to take the workshop. Fees include supervised tuition, all materials, equipment (including an apron to wear), firing and afternoon tea. Participants must be aged 18 years or over and the workshop is not recommended if you are sensitive to strong scents, are pregnant or have breathing difficulties, or other related health issues. Please note that we will be using caustic soda which is harsh on clothing and your skin. You will need to wear long sleeves (an old shirt), trousers (or a long skirt), enclosed shoes, and bring along a mask and hand towel. If you are unable to attend your class, consider gifting your spot to someone else that you know who would enjoy it, as we do not offer refunds or transfers.
