Clae has bought together a collection of specialty throwing tools, which includes locally designed and made, as well as the best from over-seas.
 
RIMU THROWING HOOK - 300 mm x 60mm.  This beautiful rimu throwing stick has been designed by Clae and made here in Canterbury by artisan Roger.  It is made of recycled rimu, and have been designed to give the thrower a long straight side for throwing, as well as a beautiful curve for bellying out and shaping tall items on the wheel.  

RIMU CUT OFF KNIFE - 245mm x 30mm. This is Clae's rendition of a traditional Korean throwing tool, and it is made here in Canterbury by artisan Roger out of recycled rimu. This tool has been designed for cutting pots easily and cleanly off the hump, with a sharp wooden cutting blade, sturdy handle, and a nylon cut off thread.
 
WOODEN CALIPERS -  selected for inclusion in the Clae range of tools, these wooden calipers make measuring your throwing super easy, and come in three different sizes.

STICK-A-BAT - 300mm diameter.  Selected for inclusion in the Clae range of tools, these synthetic chamois keep your throwing bat on the wheel and make turning so much easier.
 
PROFESSIONAL TUNGSTEN TURNING TOOL - CURVED OR STRAIGHT - 160mm x 25mm x 15mm.  Selected for inclusion in the Clae range of tools, these professional turing tools are made of tungsten and never need sharpening, enabling sharp and clean turning.  These tools are designed for use on hard leather-hard pots (in the Eastern throwing tradition), and are particularly good for fine white clays.
Caution: Do not drop on hard floors as this could chip or break your blade.  
 
TURNING DISC  - 50mm diameter - Clae has selected these metal turning discs to help keep your pots firmly on the wheel while you turn.  The disc allows you to evenly distribute pressure on the pot while turning, meaning that pushing through the tops of bowls is a thing of the past.
 
BATS - These throwing bats are made in locally and come in two sizes.  They are perfect for use with a Stick-A-Bat, or you can drill holes to fit the screws on your wheel.

THROWING SPONGE - 85mm x 6mm.  Clae has selected this fine finishing sponge as part of its collection of throwing tools.  This sponge is perfect for sponging pot rims without taking away the smaller clay particles, which means a smoother finish.
