Clae have produced a range of glazes inspired by the Te Waipounamu South Island environment, and using local materials. Theses glazes can be used to dip, pour, or, if a thickener is added, brush-on. Use by itself, or layer with other Clae glazes for a variety of glaze results. These bespoke glazes come in 400ml containers and are perfect for adding a local, personal touch to your ceramic work.
We have applied glazes so that the items have a 1 – 2 mm coverage of glaze. You can add water to thin the glaze if necessary.
Glaze results will vary if you apply a thicker or thinner coat or use a different kiln schedule that we have tested to.
Clae glazes have been fired to temperatures 1220 – 1240 deg C in a large electric kiln, using a ramp rate of 2.3rr per minute with a 45-minute hold.
Glaze will apply differently to either thin or thick items, or items that have a lower/higher bisque than 1000deg C.
Please test before you apply to final items to make sure that you know how this glaze handles using your own techniques and firing!
